The Vermont Morgan Horse Association Inc. Presents:
This race is believed to be the first time since 1796 that a Morgan race took place on the Morgan Mile.
A HISTORICAL AND EDUCATIONAL EVENT! Saturday, September 11, 2010 Starting Time: 1 PM RAIN OR SHINE!
On Saturday September 11th 2010 starting at 1 PM, Morgan Horses will be trotting down the famous Morgan Mile Road in Brookfield
Vermont. History will repeat itself since the famous Morgan Horse named Figure and later called Justin Morgan or The Morgan Horse,
raced down this old Vermont Road. He was raced against two New York running horses in Brookfield, Vt. in 1796 (defeating both easily).
That stretch of road is known as "Morgan Mile" to this day and is located close to the place Morgan is said to have lived near the
Randolph-Brookfield town line. Figure went on to become known as the Justin Morgan horse.
Organizer Dennis Tatro and The Vermont Morgan Horse Association have put together a series of trotting races in which Morgan Horses
will race two at a time. Races will be at a trot, under saddle as well as in harness. Starting time is 1 PM on The Morgan Mile
Road in Brookfield Vermont.
Plan to attend this event or better yet, bring a Morgan Horse and race in this event!
